Zero Downtime, Zero Disruption: Wireless Monitoring That Pays for Itself

For each machine, the contractor would need to:
- Apply lock out, tag out isolation before starting any work
- Install the in-line meter
- Validate the install
- Reinstate power
- Remove the lock out, tag out system
Carried out safely and correctly, this process averages one hour per machine. With a combined electrical contractor cost of one hour per machine, across sixty machines that comes to a total of €6,000, all of it for out-of-hours labour alone, before any meters or parts are bought. This is a completely avoidable cost.
The Smart Way
Using wireless CT sensors, the same sixty machines were connected during normal working hours in a single working day. The factory’s own technician handled the work. There was no need for an external contractor, no lock out, tag out procedure, no out-of-hours callout and no disruption to production.
The Result
The factory avoided the full €6,000 in out-of-hours contractor costs. More importantly, all sixty machines were online within a day and began sending up to ten-minute energy readings straight away. The system gave the team a full picture of energy use without interrupting a single shift. The factory also has a wireless network which can be extended for air quality and dust monitoring, full power quality meters, and gas monitoring.
